The griffin is a legendary creature with the body, tail, and back legs of a lion, and the head and wings of an eagle. Its front feet have the talons of an eagle as well. Because the lion was traditionally considered the king of the beasts and the eagle king of the birds, the griffin was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature, basically king of all creatures. Griffins are known for guarding treasure and priceless possessions.
Griffins mate for life. There's no cheating, there's no just this once, there's no breaking up. They stick it out together. Eatin' ain't cheatin' though. They don't even find another mate if theirs dies.
