The hybrid version of the harpy is pretty typical in its abilities. It can scratch people with its long claws.

The demonic version of the harpy is used in the fight club and will be described in this section. In its human form, it can charm its victims with a touch of the hand, utterly controlling them. It only wears off if the victim is away from the harpy for a long period of time. They can make humans fall asleep with a wave of their hand, but this doesn't work on other supernatural beings. In demon form, the harpy can fly at speeds of 114 MPH. They can emit high pitch noise that destroy your eardrums. They are extremely strong in this form and are immune to most human objects. They can create fire in both forms, but it's only really useful fire in the demon form. Like, large fiery blasts!

Of Myths & Men: Episode 11, the only podcast to celebrate St. Ignatius's feast day on July 31st. We discuss the bird/woman hybrid, the Harpy. The expert this week is Velija.

Description

Main Article: Harpy

There are two types of harpies, the bird/woman hybrids, and a form of demonic harpy where a beautiful human woman can transform into a demonic bird-like creature. Harpies enjoy torturing people by stealing their food right before they can eat it. They also work in service to Zeus and Erinyes to kidnap people. Often, these kidnapped people will be given to Erinyes as servants.

Abilities

The Fight

Taking place in the Grand Canyon, the harpy roosts awaiting for the signal to hunt its prey, Medusa and the hellhound. By mystical ways, it means certain death should Medusa fall off the hellhound, beads of sweat are forming as she becomes nervous for her battle. The hellhound is heating up some toast for a snack.

SIGNAL! Battle begins.

The harpy flies to the air to scope out where Medusa and the hellhound are. Planning to hide behind a cliff to surprise them, the harpy decides to rethink the plan, believing the hellhound's heightened senses would be able to search her out. Harpy decides an all out frontal assault is the best way and swoops to attack the hellhound/Medusa combo. The harpy aims for Medusa's snake hair to tear some snakes out and pull Medusa off, risking some snake bites.

Medusa readies the hellhound for a dodge, much like the dog form of Naruto. (Dogruto?) And stares up directly at the harpy. The harpy's eyes slips, and her body turns to stone, crashing into the ground and shattering. Unfortunately the harpy's air advantage couldn't beat out the power of Medusa and the hellhound.

Winner: Medusa riding Hellhound.
